Why join Cadets?

"Many people think of Cadets as preparation for a career in the military, but it is really about preparing for life; about developing skills, the qualities and the confidence that will allow these young people to prosper and contibute to the Canada of tomorrow."

Senator Art Eggleton, former Minister of National Defence

TO JOIN

Please be advised intake for the 2018-2019 cadet year is now closed.

Please join us on Wednesday September 4, 2019 for New Cadet Orientation & Intake

The aim of the cadet organization is to develop life long leadership skills by engaging in active citizenship and community events, physical fitness and life skills challenges.  Cadets is a national organization for youth ages 12-18 and provides exciting opportunities and challenges.  The army cadet program is sponsored in partnership by the Department of National Defence and the civilian group of the Army Cadet League of Canada.  Cadets are not part of the Canadian Forces, nor is there any expectations for them to join the military.

Cadets offer challenges, friendships and adventure!  It is an opportunity to expand your own horizons, contribute to your community and make friends for life.  Several times a year, cadets will participate in a weekend FTX (field training exercise).  These weekends involve camping, hiking, abseiling, snowshoeing, wilderness survival, orienteering, food preparation, first aid training, marksmanship, biathlon, team building, and leadership opportunities.  Where else can you get to experience such an adventure!!!

Our training year begins on the first Wednesday night in September after the Labour Day long weekend with a BBQ and information session for new and returning cadets and their parents/guardians. Training runs through to the end of June. There is no cost to join cadets and uniforms are provided.

Are you ready to be a cadet?  All you have to do is fill out a few forms and you are one step closer to an experience like no other.
